YONY FW23 Presents Refined Americana With a Transparent Supply Chain

Born in the tumultuous year that was 2020, modern menswear imprint YONY entered the fashion scene with a change-making agenda. At the time, founder and creative director Johnny Schwartz, a Los Angeles native, set out to create sophisticated, masculine silhouettes with the “most transparent and ethical supply chain possible.” Now, entering his third year at the label’s helm, the designer’s forward-minded vision is coming into focus.

For Fall/Winter 2023, YONY has crafted a well-rounded wardrobe with references to Western design tropes, elevated workwear and classic Americana. Flannel shirts are built strong, donning classic check prints on wool, corduroy and cotton, while utility-first button-ups, including a navy iteration made with Italian twill, are more subtle. Wool, sourced from Donegal, Ireland, lines the collar of a quintessential pilot’s jacket, and a double-breasted, light-grey trench coat adheres to an upscale dress code.

While polished, the collection does have its fair share of fun. A crewneck sweater, in green, pictures a cowboy riding a spotted horse at the rodeo in its center, and a five-color jacquard knit cardigan plays with earthy color blocking. Meanwhile, a matching off-white jacket and pants feature a total of 45 brand-focused embroideries when paired together.

“Our clothing represents a refined take on Americana. Inspired by the ‘50s, we create clothing to modernize a look that is long lost. We challenge ourselves to design pieces that will last for years to come,” the brand states.

With sustainability at the fore, the brand’s fabrics, as much as possible, are produced in the United States from start to finish. Those sourced abroad are found through vendors who can ensure that their textiles are made in their country of origin from A to Z. For YONY, this supply-chain transparency is imperative.
