Études SS23 "Périphérie" Campaign Tells of a Solitary Escape

For Études‘ “Chapter 1” SS23 campaign video centered around its N°21 collection, the French label ventures into the outer peripheries of Paris, capturing a young man’s night adventures away from the norms and routines of daily life. His solo escape is one of both mind, body, and spirit as he’s flooded with conflicting feelings of catharsis and melancholy.

Following a character played by French actor Félix Maritaud, the clip ventures along dilapidated railroads, recalling a world of industrial heritage which was a main inspiration for the Spring/Summer 2023 collection. Reminiscent of the Petite Ceinture railway that used to run around Paris, the color palette for the collection ranges from redwood to pale green and brown to grey and beige as if patinaed and faded in time. Silhouettes further combine workwear functionality with formal French tailoring, putting together Carpenter’s trousers and jumpsuits with classic shirts and checked suit jackets. The series also sees four new sunglasses handcrafted from acetate as new additions to the Études’ eyewear collection.
