A trial date has been set for the case of the 1996 murder of Tupac Shakur. Duane “Keffe D” Davis will appear before a Nevada judge on June 3, standing trial for Shakur’s murder, along with a charge for the intent to assist a criminal gang.

Davis was arrested by Las Vegas police in September, following a raid in his home that took place earlier in the summer. The 60-year-old man appeared in a Nevada court last week where he pled “not guilty” to the crimes.

In his memoir, Davis admitted to being inside the vehicle from which shots were fired at Shakur but claims the killer was in fact his nephew, Orlando “Baby Lane” Anderson. Clark County Chief Deputy District Attorney Marc DiGiacomo, however, has claimed that Davis was the “on-ground, on-site commander” of the attack on the rapper.

Next year, Davis will be represented by two public defenders, Charles Cano and Robert Arroyo, after failing to come to an agreement with the private attorney he had previously hired. Cano and Arroyo say they plan to seek his release on bail ahead of the trial in June.
