Kid Cudi Takes Us On an Ethereal Listening Journey With "HEAVEN'S GALAXY"
The Man on the Moon has officially landed in the Star Trek universe.
Kid Cudi‘s “Boldy Be” collaboration with the Star Trek franchise is masterfully multifaceted, consisting of three immersive glimpses into Cudder’s Star Trek universe; comprised of a merchandise capsule, a Fortnite gaming experience entitled “MIRROR MAYHEM,” and, today’s six-minute sonic experience “HEAVEN’S GALAXY,” the Moon Man’s involvement in the collaboration feels authentic and intentional.
“HEAVEN’S GALAXY” opens with nearly two minutes of solely Cudi’s hypnotic hums amidst mesmerizing production. Produced by longtime collaborator Dot Da Genius, the captivating cut draws directly from Cudi’s passion for telling the ultimate space saga.
“Through the galaxies, don’t ask why / Take the journey y’all, you will find / In the darkest times, look for light / See my strеngth, I’m strong / Ain’t no fear in me / Nevеr say I can’t survive / These worlds through space and time,” he croons on the chorus, a sentiment that directly echos his inspiration for agreeing to the collab.
“The most important thing to me is to be as authentic as possible. Star Trek‘s mission has always been about having a hopeful future and when I was first approached about this project it was the perfect marriage of all the things I believe in – being brave and a hero by doing what’s right and fighting for freedom,” the musician conveyed in a statement upon the collaboration’s announcement.
“HEAVEN’S GALAXY” is now streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.
As for the other two parts of “Boldly Be,” New York Comic Con is currently underway as of yesterday, which serves as the temporary home for the merchandise offering through its close on October 16. Star Trek x Kid Cudi: Mirror Mayhem is out for purchase now, and the merch collection with land online globally come October 16.
