Update: Kid Cudi x Star Trek is official. Kicking off during New York Comic Con on October 12, “Boldly Be” consists of three parts: a new Cudi single aptly named “Heaven’s Galaxy”, a Fortnite gaming experience entitled STAR TREK X KID CUDI: MIRROR MAYHEM, and an out-of-this-world capsule streetwear collection.

“Heaven’s Galaxy” was produced by longtime Cudder collaborator, Dot Da Genius, and will land on streaming on October 12. As for MIRROR MAYHEM, the gaming experience is set to drop off later this month. Per the official press release, the game’s description reads as follows:

“Boldly Go as you partner with Captain Skyles (Kid Cudi) on a mission to uncover the source of a sonic anomaly that threatens the peaceful planet Vada. Beam down to explore, discover and defend a world these forces are threatening to tear apart. It’s up to you and other Starfleet recruits to work together with Captain Skyles to uncover the source of this musical malady and restore the harmony of Vada while there’s still time!”

Rounding out “Boldly Be” is an offering of streetwear merchandise including tees, crewnecks, hoodies, a custom button-up t-shirt and a vibrant leather varsity jacket with intricate embroidery detailing. So far, only imagery of the jacket has surfaced, but the range is slated to lean into Star Trek-inspired mantras like “Live Long and Rage.” Take a closer look in the gallery below.

The collaboration’s apparel collection will debut on October 12 at the Star Trek x Kid Cudi booth at Comic-Con, where attendees can exclusively preorder pieces, and then go live for a global release on Cudi’s online store on October 16.  Attendees can also stop by to booth to indulge in a closer look at MIRROR MAYHEM, ahead of its undetermined October release date. Take a look at the range in the gallery below, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more details as they surface.

ORIGINAL ARTICLE:

To celebrate Star Trek Day, Kid Cudi and Star Trek have come together for a one-of-a-kind collaboration. Dubbed the “Boldly Be” campaign, the collaborative release “reflects the optimistic and inclusive spirit of adventure, discovery, imagination, and most importantly, hope, at the heart of the cultural phenomenon.”

The Kid Cudi x Star Trek “Boldly Be” collaboration will feature an original song, an interactive gaming component, and an apparel collection coming this October. The campaign draws inspiration from Star Trek‘s ethos of IDIC (Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations), the basis of Vulcan philosophy that the vast variables create truth, beauty, and strength.

“I grew up watching Star Trek with my dad who is single-handedly responsible for turning me into a fan,” said Mescudi. “The most important thing to me is to be as authentic as possible. Star Trek’s mission has always been about having a hopeful future and when I was first approached about this project it was the perfect marriage of all the things I believe in – being brave and a hero by doing what’s right and fighting for freedom. I can’t wait to share my love of this incredible franchise with the world.”
