The art world descends upon Singapore this week for the inaugural ART SG, which is being hailed as Southeast Asia’s largest art fair in history. Over 160 international galleries will be in attendance, including White Cube who presents paintings, sculptures and installations as part of the PLATFORM section.

Amongst the 23 artists that White Cube will showcase, the gallery brings back Isamu Noguchi‘s modular Octetra play system that he first proposed for the United States pavilion for Osaka Expo ’70. “I like to think of playgrounds as a primer of shapes and functions; simple, mysterious, and evocative: thus educational. The child’s world would be a beginning world, fresh and clear,” Noguchi once said regarding the work.

Theaster Gates, who was the subject of a new monograph by Phaidon, will also present Black Square Study #1, 2020 — a floating aluminum library that appears like a painting from a distance, but is actually filled with an archival collection of books documenting JET magazine. Additional highlights include an unnerving charcoal-based drawing by Marguerite Humaeu, as well as work from Danh Vo, Georg Baselitz and Antony Gormley. See White Cube’s full list of exhibiting artists below.

ART SG will take place from January 11 to 15. Please visit the fair’s website for tickets and additional information.

Elsewhere, the Louvre Museum will limit attendance in 2023.
