Kanye West’s Goyard Backpack Just Sold for 50 ETH
Now “Elon.Space” wants to give 420 people a chance to win it.

Two weeks after Kanye West’s 1/1 Goyard “Robot Face” backpack surfaced for $100,000 USD, an anonymous collective known as “Elon.Space” has come forward stating that it purchased the limited-edition backpack for 50 ETH (approx. $100,000 USD at the time of purchase) directly from luxury consignor Justin Reed.
The backpack, which was designed by West himself in 2010 and commissioned by luxury heritage house Goyard, went MIA for almost 11 years — until surfacing again in 2021, courtesy of Reed, who sold it for $55,000 USD.
Now, Reed has found a new set of hands for the recently listed backpack, but this time, the anonymous buyer has its own plans for “Robot Face” and where it may end up next.
Elon.Space is a modern-day cultural experiment that leverages the Elon Musk “meme culture” – “who controls the memes, controls the universe” – and combines it with fashion and futuristic tech to produce highly unique “phygital” products for those who think big and execute even bigger, leveraging the many character traits associated with Musk himself.
“It was an honor to list this 1 of 1 item for sale and I am more than happy to see it go towards an exciting project like Elon.Space,” Reed told Hypebeast.
As to why this Musk-loving group chose the backpack, the minds behind Elon.Space shed additional insight:
“Kanye is a creative genius that pairs perfectly with the ethos of Elon.Space. We wanted a product that felt iconic and of a moment that resonates with the project – this was it. As soon as Justin posted the product, we knew we had to text him immediately to get it,” it explained to Hypebeast.
Speaking to the Musk meme culture, Elon.Space also prefaced that it is that very culture that makes the tech billionaire “accessible.”
“Elon’s culture of memes is the reason why he is the most accessible figure in the Web3 and NFT space. He loves DOGE, he’s going to space, and he loves trolling. His personality is the quintessential Web3 billionaire,” it said.
As its debut project, Elon.Space told Hypebeast that it will be giving away its newly purchased Kanye West 1/1 Goyard backpack in an upcoming NFT mint that will automatically enroll 420 users into a raffle, which will enable one NFT owner to win the Goyard backpack that it recently purchased directly from Reed.
The mint, which Elon.Space says will take place towards the end of September, will also grant NFT holders access to other physical items, including Elon.Space apparel, candles, and more surprises along the way.
“Supporters can expect to be surprised and delighted with unfiltered commentary, high quality products (both physical and digital), and a chance to be part of a curated group of 420 who actually ‘get it.’ We don’t believe in roadmaps and/or the standard mechanism by which today’s NFT projects have incubated themselves into the industry,” says Elon.Space.
The Goyard backpack’s new owners also emphasized that while they currently remain anonymous, it has also provided the public with immediate access to what’s inside its Elon.Space project – sharing its ideas and how the details and character traits behind its Musk-inspired products came to be.
Indeed, the anonymous collective seems to encapsulate everything today’s society enjoys about genius unhinged billionaires through Web3’s vision, while pushing industry participants to question the real underlying value of NFT projects by taking a closer look at their founders and respective communities.
