Made in collaboration with long-term partner Barnabé Fillion, the upcoming fragrance is inspired by the story of Narcissus, a hunter from Thespiae who was known for his beauty. Also known as the god of vanity, he rejected all romantic advances and ended up falling in love with his own reflection, staring at his mirror image in a pool of water for the rest of his life. The action is embodied in the ancient literary device of “Eidesis,” the practice of repeating phrases as to evoke an idea in the mind. The autumn-friendly fragrance is said to deliver aquatic floral notes backed by woody hints of vetiver, sandalwood, and cedar.
Look for the 50ml Eidesis perfumes to arrive at Aēsop’s website and physical retailers on September 12 for $1,500 HKD ($195 USD).
