Balmain Bridges Light and Dark With FW22 Campaign

Oliver Rousteing’s Balmain is heading into a futuristic dystopia for the upcoming season. To showcase the full extent of its latest offering, the French luxury house has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2022 campaign.

Shot in a beige-colored quarry, models dressed in black and white ensembles maneuvered between the warm-hues dirt and a deep green square pit. Collection garments like leather pants, tactical zip-up vests, bodycon skirts, tops and more featured an array of design details. From layered elastic straps to cutout stripes and seamless molded leather, the offering is just as futuristic as it is sexy.

But what stood out amongst these subtle, yet elevated details is its illustration of light and dark as a form of security. “We need not be defenseless in the face of toxic pile-ons, if we can depend on individual honesty, collective empathy and shared hopes for progress,” said Rousteing about approaching the future.

Check out the gallery and video above for a look at Balmain’s FW22 campaign. Select garments from the Fall/Winter 2022 collection are available now on the house’s website.
