Hugh Jackman To Lead Hulu's Animated Comedy Series 'Koala Man'

Hugh Jackman will lead the voice cast of Hulu‘s upcoming adult animated comedy series Koala Man, according to Variety. The series, which Hulu ordered straight to series in March of last year, hails from Rick and Morty co-creators Justin Roiland and Michael Cusack.
The eight-episode series will follow “middle-aged dad Kevin (Cusack) and his titular not-so-secret identity, whose only superpower is a burning passion for following rules and snuffing out petty crime in the town of Dapto,” according to an official logline. “Though it may seem like any other Australian suburb, forces of evil both cosmic and man-made lie in wait to pounce on unsuspecting Daptonians.” On a mission to rid his hometown of crime, Koala Man must face off against a series of ultra-smart villains and supernatural enemies.
Jackman will join the series in the role of Big Greg, who is the head of the town council and Kevin’s direct supervisor. Interestingly, his character has a tendency to make Kevin feel inferior and frequently receives credit for Koala Man’s heroic work.
The actor, known for his roles in films including The Greatest Showman and X-Men, is no stranger to voice acting. Previously, Jackman has lent his voice to DreamWorks’ Rise of the Guardians, Laika’s Missing Link and, most recently, Netflix‘s Big Mouth spin-off, Human Resources.
Dan Hernandez and Benji Samit are showrunners on Koala Man, with executive producers Emma Fitzsimmons, Michael Cowap, Scott Greenberg, Joel Kuwahara, Dana Tafoya Cameron and Ben Jone. Hulu has not yet revealed a premiere date for the project.
