Toogood Brings Sculptural Sizing to Carhartt WIP Classics

Carhartt WIP has unveiled its first collaboration with Toogood, allowing the London-based design studio to rework its signature workwear-inspired shapes. Items including jackets and shirting are oversized, and have been given a sculptural update by Erica and Faye Toogood.

Throughout the collection, classic Carhartt WIP materials such as Dearborn Canvas and the lighter Utah Canvas are used, while the brand’s mix their best-known pieces. Toogood’s Photographer Jacket is combined with the Michigan Jacket to celebrate the joint utilitarian aesthetic, while Toogood also incorporates its Explorer jacket and Draughtsmen shirt. Inspired by the idea of an everyday uniform, the collection arrives in a color palette of off-white, black and “Hamilton Brown” and is finished with co-branded labelling and buttons.

Launching the collection, Erica Toogood said:

“This collaboration has come from a very natural place for both brands. Carhartt WIP’s history of modifying historic workwear sits effortlessly with Toogood’s nod to trades and workwear, reimagined and sculpted with artistic freedom.

Carhartt WIP gave us permission to cut, hack and remodel these archetypal utility products and link them closer to a sculptural Toogood fit. Combining our aesthetic and cutting style with Carhartt WIP’s construction skill and capacity has been a proud moment for us, resulting in an accessible, durable and iconic product.”

The collection will be on show at Spazio Maiocchi during Salone del Mobile in Milan, alongside a range of one-off pieces and giant sculptural puppets wearing the collection. The collaboration is due to release via the Carhartt WIP and Toogood web stores on June 7, as well as through select stockists.
