Stone Island Partners With Kevlar for Prototype Research_Series 06
Making its debut at Milan Design Week.

Stone Island has unveiled the latest iteration of its Prototype Research_Series. For the sixth edition, Stone Island teamed up with Kevlar’s consumer research and development team.
Birthed in 2016, Stone Island’s Prototype Research_Series is a collection of limited-edition pieces with experimental treatments and fabrications. The collections are not produced at an industrial scale and typically feature 100 units. Series 06 covers fine Kevlar yarn, which embodies durability and thermal stability, with double cotton yarn to create a new textured fabric. The garment and its newly engineered fabric also underwent a dévoré printing technique to break down the cotton yarn which yield Kevlar’s inner yellow color.
Completing the garment is a resin treatment for texturization and a special PFC-free, water repellent finish.
The Prototype Research_Series 06 is currently on view at Milan Design Week from Tuesday, June 7 through Sunday, June 12.
