One-of-210 Ferrari LaFerrari Aperta to Fetch Over $5M USD at Auction
Fitted with lashings of carbon fiber and a screaming V12 engine.
Ferrari unveiled the LaFerrari in 2013 as a rival to McLaren‘s P1 and Porsche‘s 918 Spyder, completing the holy trinity of the world’s first hybrid hypercars. Following that came a limited run of the LaFerrari Aperta, and now one of the 210 made is up for sale with Bring a Trailer.
Finished in “Rosso Corsa” over black leather and Alcantara upholstery with red accents, this particular LaFerrari Aperta comes with plenty of optional extras that make it stand out even more than a “regular” LaFerrari. For example, a carbon fiber windshield frame and roof trim panel, costing $41,000 USD, and a visible carbon fiber removable hardtop roof, costing $71,000 USD, have been specced. Additionally, you’ll find center-locking forged-allow five-spoke rims, carbon-ceramic brakes, and plenty more carbon fiber inside and out.
This is because the LaFerrari is centered around a carbon fiber monocoque structure designed by and derived from Ferrari’s F1 team. It’s what helps to keep the car’s weight down, as do the lashings of carbon inside the cabin, gracing everything from the dashboard, door panels, and sills, to the center console.
Rounding out the car is the engine, which happens to be a 6.3-liter V12 paired with an electric motor that produces 950 HP and 664 lb-ft of torque, which is good for a 0-60 MPH time of three seconds and a top speed of 217 MPH. At the time of writing, the listing has just over three hours left, and the current bid sits at a staggering $5,000,000 USD — more than twice the car’s original list price.
