While Travis Scott did not make an official appearance at Coachella 2022, the controversial artist was definitely in its vicinity testing the waters for his return.

ENews reported that Scott gave a a surprise performance at the Revolve x Bootsy Bellows After Party at Coachella, just six months after the Astroworld Festival tragedy in Houston. The “Sicko Mode” artist appeared in La Quinta, California behind the DJ booth with DJ Chase B, playing some of his biggest hits. The crowd in attendance appeared “super excited” to see him return to the stage, according to onlookers.

Travis Scott was initially rumored to join Coachella 2020 as a headliner, but his status was revoked following the 2021 Astroworld tragedy that led to 10 deaths and many injured. Coachella 2022 later tapped Kanye West, Billie Eilish and Harry Styles as headliners. Ye later backed out and was replaced by The Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia. It was also previously rumored that Ye would bring out Travis Scott in his headlining performance.

In recent weeks, Scott’s promotional billboards for his latest album Utopia, have been seen across highways in California. His after-party performance was his first since Astroworld.
