The last we visited Karl Hab, he was capturing the hustle-and-bustle of Hong Kong. For his latest book, the French photographer returns to his hometown to document the magic of the City of Lights in 24H PARIS.

Once described by Ernest Hemingway as a “moveable feast,” Paris is a city that stays with you for the rest of your life, he’d add. When describing the French capital, Victor Hugo, one of the nation’s most celebrated writers, said “Nothing is more fantastic. Nothing is more tragic. Nothing is more sublime.” Despite changing immensely from century to century, the charm and confluence of culture that manifests in Paris persist to this day.

“There are no page numbers — only chronological times that indicate when the photo was taken.”

Known for his penchant for aviation, design and fashion photography, Hab’s latest installment captures the elegance of Paris through striking contrasts that reflect his personal views – from the streets to wondrous aerial perspectives.

The photographs are presented chronologically over 24 hours with tones and colors that evoke the city’s nuances with a certain lushness. There are no page numbers — only chronological times that indicate when the photo was taken. Subtle differences in light and atmosphere reveal that the photos span the seasons.

24H PARIS is 216 pages in length and includes a foreword by Sarah Andelman and Colette Rouseaux. The publication is available to purchase at the photographer’s website for approximately $61 USD.

Elsewhere in art, Yoshiyuki Okuyama captures the fleeting nature of time in “TOKYO SEQUENCE.”
