Argentine-Spanish artist Felipe Pantone previously released the CHROMADYNAMICA CIRCULAR RUG and has now debuted his latest work of art created by fusing motion and chromatic colors. Known for his whimsical takes on playing with color palettes, Pantone has created a number of manipulable pieces to challenge the perception of viewers and the way humans depend on and consume technology and information.

Entitled the Subtractive Variability Compact, the limited edition kinetic sculpture is made up of 200 pieces placing UV paint on PMMA. Pantone utilized the model of CMY — cyan, magenta and yellow — allowing the subtraction of light to create an infinite amount of shades when the colors combine through a spin-the-wheel mode.

“Felipe Pantone’s manipulable art is a testimony of the way information is consumed nowadays, being personalization a key element of engagement in the digital era, and allowing the viewer to be an active collaborator that has a decisive say in the final appearance of the artwork,” as stated on the Configurable Art website.

The limited-edition Subtractive Variability Compact is set to release on February 15 via Configurable Art.
