Vans Celebrates 30 Years of the Skate Half Cab With Atlas Collaboration
The record shop-inspired shoe is available in a limited run.
In celebration of the Vans Skate Half Cab‘s 30th anniversary, the staple sneaker label has tapped Atlas Skate Shop, a Bay-Area-favorite multidisciplinary locale, for a collaborative sneaker. Enter the Vans x Atlas Skate Half Cab, a limited-run, record shop-inspired shoe that arrives as part of a capsule including the Vans Skate Era and Skate Slip-on.
The collaboration’s Skate Half Cab silhouette operates with a predominantly black color story, though it does opt for white stitching and red highlights on its heel and tongue. Speaking to its musical roots, the sneaker enlists panels with vinyl record grooves; and to mark the partnership, Vans and Atlas iconography decorate the sidewalls and heels. For the duo’s Skate Era and Skate Slip-on iterations, the design details are identical.
“Half Cabs are as timeless as a classic spot or record, and Atlas is honored to have the opportunity to put our own spin on one of the most iconic skate shoes of all time,” the San Mateo shop wrote of the partnership in a statement.
Atlas will host a celebratory launch party at The Lab in San Francisco on November 18 at 7 p.m. PT, with a DJ set from John Cardiel, a live performance from Ray Barbee and a premiere screening for a Thrasher x Atlas video that was filmed over the past year.
The Vans x Atlas Skate Half Cab is now available at Atlas’ San Mateo location and on Atlas’ website. Take a look at the sneaker in the gallery above.
