Philllllthy Brings His Signature Wabi-Sabi Aesthetic to the adidas NMD S1
Inspired by Philllllthy’s creative practice, the co-created sneaker features an indigo dye-inspired color scheme and elevated materials.

Brooklyn-based creator Phillip Leyesa (better known as Philllllthy) has garnered a loyal following for his wabi-sabi aesthetic and unique take on upcycling, an ethos he’s brought to his new NMD S1 collaboration with adidas. Marking Philllllthy’s first official sneaker collaboration after he gained notoriety over the past few years for his signature distressed pants, hoodies and sneakers — most notably, a Dior x Air Jordan 1 created for Daniel Arsham — the NMD S1 is a DIY project made official.
Directly inspired by a custom pair of indigo patchwork NMDs that Philllllthy created in 2021, the new sneaker features a space-dyed Primeknit upper with a melange of patterned details, a semi-translucent ice blue midsole that’s stuffed with white BOOST foam and a toothed outsole that uses adidas Originals‘ trefoil logo as a cushioning pattern. Philllllthy’s signature P logo appears on the midsole, and the look is completed by custom laces and tan suede tongue tabs.
The Philllllthy x adidas NMD S1 dropped on Philllllthy’s webstore yesterday, and quickly sold out. However, it’ll touch down on adidas’ online shop, the CONFIRMED app and select retailers come November 30. The MSRP is set at $220 USD.
