American watch brand Shinola has launched its first manually wound watch powered by a Swiss made movement.

The Mechanic is a colorful series of three 39 mm stainless steel watches powered by Sellita’s SW210-1 manually wound movement, here decorated with Côte de Genève stripes and an anthracite finish, while being displayed through an exhibition caseback.

Rather than referring to its movement, the name ‘The Mechanic’ refers to the traditional sign painting techniques found in Shinola’s hometown of Detroit and reflected in the Arabic numeral hour markers.

The cushion-cased watch features a mix of brushed and polished finishes and is offered with black, cream and green curved dials covered with a glassbox crystal.

The Mechanic – which is offered on a padded leather strap – is available now via Shinola, priced $1,450 USD.

Elsewhere in watches, Seiko marks ‘Ultraseven’ anniversary with limited edition Seiko 5 Sports watch.
