For Fall/Winter 2022, Lucie and Luke Meier continued their design philosophy for Jil Sander centered around offering individuals the tools and freedom to be what they want to be. Described as “engaging and varied,” the seasonal range is directed for “us” respecting how “we are all different and constantly changing.”
In a display of contemporary tailoring, Jil Sander describes each style as “self-standing, iconic, and executed with exceptional craftsmanship.” Sharing the Meier’s focus on discovering new embroideries, knits, intarsia, and textiles from the most refined wools and silks for distinct visuals and textures.
Exploring a diverse color palette of familiar off white and black, mixed with tones of butter, ivory, sage, sand, cocoa, steel blue, burgundy, orange, yellow and green, the FW22 collection is an exercise in contemporary tailoring. A mix of form and function resulted in a range of vital wares that develop silhouettes that stand both structured and relaxed at once. Aside from coats, jackets and tailored suits are striking knitwear styles in wool or in chenille, or in wool with chenille intarsia that accentuates the body. Finishing up the collection are very pointy or super squared zipped or elasticated boots, earrings, brooches, scarves, small rectangular tool bags-inspired shoulder cases, a large tote and shopper bags.
