Earlier in February, Squidmar Miniatures unboxed an ultra-rare Thunderhawk Gunship model from Warhammer 40,000 over on its YoutTube channel, and now the painted model has been auctioned off for a staggering $35,000 USD.

Announcing the sale in a new video uploaded on Monday, the group’s Emil Nyström revealed that an Australian game shop by the name of The House of War has won the auction with a price of $34,882 USD, setting a new world record for the most expensive miniature ever sold. Aside from documenting the kit’s assembly for their YouTube channel, Nyström also went on to paint the assault ship after speaking to the model’s original sculptor Tim Adcock.

For those unfamiliar, the metal Thunderhawk Gunship set was released back in 1997 and only 500 were ever made, each coming in a special wooden chest that combined with the model weighs 22 pounds. Painted versions can occasionally be found online for around $3,000 USD, with fully unassembled kits going for a higher $5,000 USD. While both price tags can be considered quite exorbitant for one miniature, they pale in comparison to the record-breaking $35,000 USD price tag from Nyström’s auction.

As for where Squidmar Miniatures is going next, Nyström says that he’s now looking to build the T’au Manta, yet another massive warship.
