In a constant strive for innovation and excellence, Swiss watchmaking brand Ulysse Nardin is renowned for eXploring advanced technology and conceptual designs, as exemplified by its BLAST and SKELETON X models. The watchmaker is pioneering the use of Carbonium® in the watchmaking industry. This super-light, sustainable, high-performance composite material was originally used in aeronautics for the production of next-generation airplanes’ fuselage and wings.

These two mechanical work of art by Ulysse Nardin combines high tech performance and stunning aesthetics thanks to the combination of bold, contrasting materials. Carbonium® is the perfect example of Ulysse Nardin’s daring spirit and creativity. Composed of aeronautical grade carbon fibers, it is obtained thanks to a high pressure process that creates unique organic patterns and an incredible depth of pigmentation. Its visual intensity paired with advanced technical performance and a remarkable resistance-to-lightness ratio make it a rare find for any watch enthusiast. The innovative process development used to up-cycle aerospace grade carbon material comes from three patents developed by young award-winning French start-up company, Lavoisier Composites. The production of Carbonium® ultimately sees 40% less environmental impact than other carbon composites as it uses offcuts from aeronautical pieces.

Immediately recognizable by its angular lines, the SKELETON X is a Ulysse Nardin exclusive design that reveals the inner beauty of a timepiece like never before with its open-worked skeletonization. Offering an X-ray vision of Haute Horology, it plays with transparency and highlights the three-dimensional architecture of the movement. A visual marvel, the SKELETON X is available in four different versions: satin-finish titanium blue, satin-finish titanium black, satin-finish rose gold or matte-finish Carbonium® GOLD.

Inspired by extreme explorers, the BLAST collection is a further remarkably innovative Ulysse Nardin design. Every BLAST watch offers a muscular and robust open-worked model, enhancing an automatic tourbillon nestled in a bold, X-shaped case and a platinum micro-rotor visible at 12 o’clock. The Blast 45mm is available in four color versions— Rose gold Blast, White Blast, Black Blast and Blue Blast — each equipped with the manufacture UN-172 movement featuring an automatic tourbillon beating at a frequency of 2.5 Hz, as well as a self-deploying buckle with structured rubber, leather, velvet and other strap options.
