Richard Heller Gallery Embraces the Mystery of the Doppelganger
Featuring a promising cast of artists, including Devin Troy Strother and Alannah Farrell.
Historically, the Doppelgänger (or “body double”) has always had a dark and mysterious nature to it. Think Tobey Maguire’s extremely unpopular twin in the even more unpopular Spiderman 3 — or the evil doppelgänger family in Jordan Peele‘s second feature film, Us. This theme is flipped in Richard Heller Gallery’s latest group show, “My Sweet Doppelgänger.”
The exhibition counteracts the benevolent side by offering a cheerful representation from a prominent group of artists from around the world, including Philip Akkerman and Devin Troy Strother, Alannah Farrell and Farshad Farzankia, to Charlie Roberts and Hunter Potter. Each artist has created their own take on which concept of the Doppelgänger inspired them for the show.
If you’re in the Los Angeles area, you or your Doppelgänger should go check out the exhibition as it views from August 6 to September 2 at the Richard Heller Gallery.
Elsewhere in art, American artist Emma Stern is showcasing a solo exhibition at Paris’ Almine Rech gallery.
