'Biubiubiu' Is a Chinese Battle Royale Esports Film
Heavily inspired by ‘PUBG.’
Capitalizing on the popularity of battle royale mobile games, China’s Huawen Picture Group has put together Biubiubiu an action drama film around a struggling Esports streamer.
Heavily inspired by titles like PUBG, the streamer forms a successful Esports team with unlikely old friends to win a tournament in an attempt to become closer to his son. What is interesting about Biubiubiu is the way the film depicts in-game action. Instead of simply relying on CGI, scenes of the fictional game are expressed through live-action sequences that provide an interesting element of realism.
