Back 4 Blood debuted its hotly-anticipated extended gameplay trailer during the Xbox and Bethesda Games E3 showcase on Sunday.
Turtle Rock Studios and Warner Bros. Games have united to revive the Left 4 Dead franchise with the all-new, cooperative first-person shooter game, where players engage in battle against the Ridden, a swarm of mutated zombies. In the series’ third chapter, players are tasked with eliminating the band of deadly, once-human creatures and reclaiming their civilization with a diverse range of characters, known as “The Cleaners,” equipped with individual strengths and weaknesses.
The trailer also offers a closer look at the game’s recently announced PvP mode, which emulates the nature of Left 4 Dead‘s Versus mode by pitting a squad of human characters against a cast of elite Ridden characters backed by an army of common zombies in an all-out battle. One team of players will transform into zombies, taking on one of several Ridden characters, while the other will play as survivors, whose main objective is to remain alive for as long as possible. Each team will be scored based on how long they can survive in their respective roles.
Back 4 Blood is slated to release on October 12 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC via Steam. Additionally, the trailer confirmed that Xbox Game Pass subscribers will have immediate access to the game once launched. An open beta version of the game will also arrive in August.
In another E3 update, Ubisoft unveiled the first season pass for Far Cry 6 that will allow players to embody some of the franchise’s most infamous villains.
