After officially moving to Texas, Elon Musk is now planning to start his own city in the state. The SpaceX and Tesla figure decided to make Texas his new home in 2020 after expressing frustrations he had with California regulators and its high taxes.

Taking to Twitter, Musk revealed “Starbase” as the name of his potential city that would incorporate Boca Chica Village. The village is currently the is the site where SpaceX is building its proposed fully reusable, two-stage-to-orbit super heavy-lift launch Starship. Boca Chica Village, which has a population of around two dozen people, and at least another town will be required to be officially designated as a city.

Cameron County Judge Eddie Treviño has confirmed that he is aware of Elon Musk’s plans noting that the county is open to the idea. “If SpaceX and Elon Musk would like to pursue down this path, they must abide by all state incorporation statutes. Cameron County will process any appropriate petitions in conformity with applicable law.”

The “Starbase” city is expected to serve as Earth’s connection to Mars colonies if SpaceX is successful in its mission to bring humans to the planet.
