As the week in music comes to a close, HYPEBEAST has rounded up the 10 best projects for the latest installment of Best New Tracks.
Leading this week’s list are JAY-Z and the late Nipsey Hussle for “What It Feels Like,” a cut from the soundtrack of Judas and the Black Messiah, along with slowthai’s sophomore effort TYRON, a collab from Young Thug, Meek Mill and T-Shyne and a “Good Days” visual from SZA. Lil Yachty also teamed up with Michigan stars Krispylife Kid, RMC Mike, Babyface Ray, Rio Da Yung OG, DC2Trill and Icewear Vezzo on “Royal Rumble,” while Gabriel Garzón-Montano joined forces with Jamila Woods for a remix of “Someone.” Closing out this entry are JPEGMAFIA with EP2!, Lucky Daye with Table For Two and The Internet’s Syd with “Missing Out.”
JAY-Z x Nipsey Hussle – “What It Feels Like”
JAY-Z and the late Nipsey Hussle have come together for a cut on the Judas and the Black Messiah soundtrack, “What It Feels Like.” Executive produced by Hit-Boy, the track is one of many efforts from the likes of A$AP Rocky, Black Thought, H.E.R. and Smino x Saba. Judas and the Black Messiah is available to watch now on Apple TV+.

SZA – “Good Days”
SZA unveiled the first music video of her latest single “Good Days,” which is comprised of fan entries that share their own take on the track. The TDE artist also added a short but sweet note with the visual, writing, “Good days is about not being sure .. not Sure hope is still a thing, not sure better is coming, not sure any of even it matters . its an acknowledgement were all in the same ugly chaotic beautiful existence . Shared energy . We’re all shattered and stretched beyond our means in all Ways. Good days is a reminder we’re all struggling find and feel A Connection. slowthai – TYRON
After a short delay, slowthai’s sophomore studio album TYRON is finally here. Featuring the likes of A$AP Rocky, Skepta, Dominic Fike, Denzel Curry, Deb Never, James Blake and Mount Kimbie, the 14-track project hears the Nothing Great About Britain artist move his focus inward and remind everyone to make peace with themselves.

Lil Yachty – “Royal Rumble”
Lil Yachty enlisted some of the brightest stars from Michigan’s rap scene for “Royal Rumble.” Tagging Krispylife Kid, RMC Mike, Babyface Ray, Rio Da Yung OG, DC2Trill and Icewear Vezzo, the cut is a fun and high-energy track that truly highlights all of the seven artist’s individual talents.

Young Thug x Meek Mill x T-Shyne – “That Go!”
Young Thug, Meek Mill and T-Shyne have teamed up for the track “That Go!” The cut arrives just shortly after Thugger’s visual with the late Juice WRLD, and is expected to be part of YSL’s highly-anticipated project Slime Language 2.

Guapdad 4000 – “How Many”
Guapdad 4000 has dropped “How Many,” the lead single off his and !LLMIND’s collaborative album, 1176. The upcoming project is set to drop on March 19 and promises an honest look at the Oakland-born artist without the comedy.

Gabriel Garzón-Montano x Jamila Woods - “Someone (Armando Young Remix)”
Gabriel Garzón-Montano and Jamila Woods have teamed up for the Armando Young remix of “Someone,” a track on Garzón-Montano’s latest full-length Agüita. “I’m grateful to be able to make such beautiful music with friends. Armando is a beast and Jamila is a monster so I was in the most loving hands. I’m honored to present this ‘Someone’ remix,” the French-Colombian artist said. Woods added, “I’ve been a big fan of Gabriel for a while and it was so fun to re-make this song with him! The lyrics are so visual and vulnerable and the story of the song really resonated with me. Armando’s remix brought such a good energy and made it one of those songs that invites you to dance your feelings out.”

JPEGMAFIA - EP2!
JPEGMAFIA quickly followed up his December 2020 project EP! with the aptly-titled EP2!. Once again entirely written, produced, recorded, mixed and mastered by the Flatbush-born artist, the project boasts of a more dialled back tone, with cuts like “FIX URSELF!” and “FEED HER!” hearing a calmer side of JPEGMAFIA as he sings ever so softly over a fusion of strings, synthesizers and unidentifiable noises, touching on everything from jealousy and self-doubt to the alt-right movement and the surveillance state.

Lucky Daye - Table For Two
Lucky Daye is celebrating Valentine’s Day with his new project, Table For Two. The seven-track project features duets from Tiana Major9, Ari Lennox, YEBBA, Mahalia, Queen Naija and Joyce Wrice, and hears different stories of the highs and lows one can experience falling both in and out of love.

Syd – “Missing Out”
A year after announcing her solo album, The Internet staple Syd dropped off her anti-Valentine’s Day ode, “Missing Out.” Despite getting fans excited for the release, she revealed in an interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music that she’s still unsure of when she’ll drop the record. “Honestly, I’m thinking about opening a body shop, like a corner garage, so I’m not sure. But I do have almost an album worth of stuff that I might finish. I don’t know. I’ve been taking it day by day,” she said. “Matt is supposed to pull up as soon and we’re supposed to start working on some new Internet tunes, so that should be fun. If they come out fire, we will drop them.”
