Balenciaga’s Holiday Ornaments Help You Deck the Halls in Style
Now you can hang your favorite Fall/Winter 2021 piece on the Christmas tree.
Demna Gvasalia’s manifesto for Balenciaga continues to expand, and it now includes highly-stylized holiday ornaments.
As the Christmas season closes in, 2021 has proven to be a whirlwind year for the Gvasalia brothers; Guram was recently announced as the new creative director for Vetements, and older brother Demna has lent his talent to everything from The Simpsons to Kanye West’s DONDA album release, with his latest offering being a replicated extension of that vision.
The Balenciaga “Icons Xmas Balls” are multicolor handmade painted glass ornaments that are intricately detailed to represent three of the brand’s biggest items: the Balenciaga “Women’s Hourglass XS” handbag, the “Track.2 Sneaker,” and the “Off-Shoulder Puffer” jacket, each retailing for $645 USD.
The IRL versions – which are a few of Demna’s favorite things – retail for way higher than their Christmas tree counterparts. The $2,590 USD red puffer coat, was featured on Homer Simpson in a special presentation for Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2022 collection, with Demna revealing in an October interview to André Leon Talley who inspired the piece; “The red puffer coat. It was one of the images on my mood board.” The “Track.2” sneaker retails for $1,050 USD, and the “Hourglass” bag – which is a Kardashian staple – sells for $2,350 USD.
The “Icons Xmas Balls” are available now. Meanwhile, take a closer look at the house of Vetements to learn what Guram’s new creative strategy might be.
