Flaming Crap follows on from its scent of 2020 and the “Smells Like Capitalism” candle with a new year-recapping release titled “The 2021 Scent.” Inspired by Netflix’s smash series Squid Game, #FreeBritney, TikTok trends and the COVID-19 vaccine, this candle aims to mark what was a “slightly better year,” as per the brand’s founder Oliver Burr.

Burr adds, “As the candle burns it takes you through four distinct and unusual layers, that complement each other marvelously. Created as a celebration of some of the year’s standout moments, it’s definitely a unique gift for the holiday period.” With that being said, the candle starts with a sweet scent of berries and cream as per the “viral” TikTok trend before turning towards something more ominous, the scent of honeycomb, inspired by the dalgona challenge in Squid Game.

Britney Spears’ “Fantasy” fragrance inspires the next quarter, following on from the documentary Britney vs Spears that details the singer’s 13-year-long control under her father’s conservatorship — which has just been removed. Lastly, a clinical tinge of COVID-19 vaccines rounds out the candle.

Kerasoy wax and recycled paper labels result in this candle being vegan-friendly, while the candle will burn for around 30 hours in total. Priced at just $19.50 USD, “The 2021 Scent” can be seen above and bought online while stocks last.
