Ayaki Obata Teams with BEAMS T for "Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter" Art Show and Apparel Collection Release
Going down at BEAMS T Harajuku.
Illustrator Ayaki Obata has teamed with BEAMS T for a special art show and apparel collection. Dubbed “Spring, Summer Autumn, Winter” and going down at BEAMS‘ Harajuku outpost, the artworks and clothing offerings alike are centered around four friendly-looking characters that represent the year’s four seasons.
Apparel offerings consist of a hoodie and crewneck plus long and short sleeve tees. While the hoodie opts to feature a single character sitting and reading, both the crewneck and long sleeve tee present all four characters — the crewneck in black outlined fashion, the longsleeve with a colorful detail on each. The short sleeve tee focuses on a sunflower and basket-carrying figure, and there’s also a book cover that features a farmer tilling his soil on one side and sprouting seedlings on the other.
Obata is most known for designing CD jackets and posters, and has also worked on cover illustrations for notable books and magazines like the UK’s Monocle. His work that inspired this collection will be on display at BEAMS T Harajuku until January 24. The apparel is available now via the BEAMS webstore, with prices ranging from ¥2,200 JPY (approximately $21 USD) for the book cover to ¥9,800 JPY (approximately $94 USD) for the hoodie.
