PORTER Links With Steiff, JOJO for 85th Anniversary Teddy, Cargo Sandals
The Japanese accessories imprint issues some celebratory collectibles.
Legacy luggage label PORTER is celebrating its 85th anniversary in 2020 and has joined forces with Steiff and Naito JOJO to celebrate. Following its partnership with Medicom Toy, PORTER has enlisted the heritage brands (JOJO is part of a 140-year-old family business and Steiff is turning 140 this year) to create some special product, including a new teddy bear and some stylish flip-flops.
The plush Steiff bear is a riff on PORTER’s classic porter logo, dressing up a Steiff teddy in an adorable suit, complete with cap, bow tie and PORTER suitcase. As usual, it’s crafted by hand in Steiff’s German factory with uncompromising materials, like real cotton garments and fuzzy mohair.
Meanwhile, the JOJO sandals are a riff on the long-standing footwear brand’s signature shoe. Designed to replicate a traditional Japanese house shoe, the sandals feature thoughtful upgrades, like a cushy EVA outsole and a toe grip crafted by a baby bottle manufacturer for extra snugness. PORTER has revamped the style with a D-ring on the toe thong and some camouflage patterning, but the most notable upgrade is a removable mini pouch, which can then be attached to the included neck strap.
Shop the celebratory goods on PORTER’s website, where the Steiff bear retails for ¥50,000 JPY (approximately $470 USD) and the JOJO sandals weigh in at ¥33,800 JPY (approximately $320 USD).
Most recently, PORTER rejoined Takashi Murakami and delivered new accessories for sacai.
