Ninebot Debuts Its New Self-Driving KickScooter T60
A big step forward for the scooter-sharing industry.
Beijing-based scooter maker Ninebot has unveiled its latest self-driving scooter that has the ability to go back to its charging station without a driver: the KickScooter T60
Ninebot recently announced Uber and Lyft as key customers for the new technology while both companies look to launch their scooter-sharing division as early as next year.
The KickScooter T60 is an AI-driven ride that can be controlled remotely with cloud technology. It’s able to avoid obstacles with the help of ultrasonic and camera sensors that detect when something is in the way, and it also packs safety precautions for crossing traffic lights safely. Apart from the aforementioned features, the scooter sees a clean white exterior with a relatively slim build, allowing it to fit through narrow paths as well as being neatly docked.
Road tests are expected to start next month, followed by its official launch in the Q1 of 2020. Each scooter will be sold for approximately $1,420 USD. Check out the teaser above for a glimpse at the new technology.
