Netflix's 'I-Land' Is a Mashup Between Fyre Festival and 'Lost'
“An immersive, mind-bending sci-fi event.”
Netflix‘s latest endeavour I-Land looks to be taking a stab at the failed music festival, Fyre Festival.
Sharing the first trailer for its upcoming series a few hours prior, the clip takes a few cues from Fyre Festival’s infamous campaign video, swimming pigs and all. The video continues to take a few more stabs at Fyre Festival until viewers are finally given the real purpose of the island. It’s not a place to take a luxurious vacation, but instead has been turned into some sort of social experiment.
The show will center on 10 people who wake up on the island with no memory of who they are or how they got there and all soon find out they are being tested by the physical and psychological challenges of the mysterious place. Netflix has referred to I-Land as an “immersive, mind-bending sci-fi event.” Additionally, fans of ABC’s Lost will also find a few parallels in the trailer above.
I-Land stars Kate Bosworth, Natalie Martinez, Alex Pettyfer, Ronald Peet, Kyle Schmid, Kota Eberhardt, Sibylla Deen, Anthony Lee Medina, Gilles Geary, and Michele Veintimilla. All seven episodes hit Netflix on September 12.
