'Watchmen' First HBO Trailer Showcases a Cult of Rorschach
Also a first look at Regina King, and Jeremy Irons as Ozymandias.
The first trailer for HBO and Damon Lindelof‘s Watchmen has finally arrived, showcasing a departure from the graphic novel by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons. The show will not be a direct adaptation of the comic and will take place in the present day, although additional details have been scarce.
The visuals above answer a few but also provides more questions in its wake. It appears the original members of the Watchmen’s legacy lives throughout society, as a lot of their iconography have been adopted by numerous figures. The police uniforms share the same colorway as Silk Spectre’s outfit and a clandestine militia use Rorschach’s face to hide their identity.
We also get a glimpse of an older Ozymandias, played by Jeremy Irons. According to actor Don Johnson in the trailer, it appears superheroes are once again beginning to surface in society following the events of the graphic novel. Regina King’s character is seen in an all-black outfit and Tim Blake Nelson is seen in another.
