Balenciaga's Chrystal Mules Are Derby Shoes Turned Into Sandals

Since Demna Gvasalia took over as Creative Director, Balenciaga has increasingly become known for its recent string of peculiar reimaginations of fashion.
Adding to its Spring/Summer 2019 footwear lineup, the luxury label recently released the Chrystal Mules. A pair of derby shoes converted into slides, the outlandish footwear option features a smooth black calfskin leather construction with a unique cutout heel. The removed portion of the shoe reveals the red leather insole and interior of the once formal wear item. Elevating the Chrystal Mules is a 20mm arch sole unit adorn with crystal detailings at the rear.
