Stromae Surprises New York Pedestrians With "Papaoutai" Performances
Stromae takes America.
As a recording artist from Europe, cross-Atlantic success is quite an indicator for “making it” in the industry. One of them is Belgian artist Stromae, who has taken America by storm with his music. A Kanye West-assisted performance at Coachella and a spot on the last, Lorde-curated, Hunger Games soundtrack are now followed by a set of live dates in North America this fall, which also includes a Madison Square Garden headline set with Janelle Monáe opening. In promotion of the tour, he’s releasing a series of “Lessons” videos, which marked the very beginning of his career, in various cities in the U.S. Above, you can check out the first episode via Pitchfork.tv, which finds him performing in Time Square, on a subway train, and under the Brooklyn Bridge,
