A Def Jam Biopic is in the Works

After the successful release and positive reception of N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton, it seems like other legendary hip-hop acts are hopping on the trend. On top of an alleged sequel for Straight Outta Compton on its way, Gang Starr and Wu-Tang Clan have plans to develop their own. The latest rumored project in the works is a film that details the rise of Def Jam Recordings. Reported by Deadline, the Universal movie is based on Life and Def: Sex, Drugs, Money, + God, a memoir written by company co-founder Russell Simmons in 2002. While everything is in early stages at the moment, they are looking to cast Jonah Hill as co-founder Rick Rubin and Michael B. Jordan as Russell. We’ll keep you updated.
