Watch Skrillex & Wiwek's Stirring Debut Short Film, 'Still In The Cage'
Kanye West turned up to the packed-out premiere.
Earlier in the week, Skrillex and Wiwek premiered the official trailer for their debut short film, ‘Still In The Cage.’ Today, after their official packed-out premiere at the Ace Hotel in Downtown Los Angeles, the film has been made available to stream in full on the OWSLA YouTube channel. Soundtracked by Wiwek’s The Free and Rebellious EP, the 18-minute film tells the tale of a Thai woman who attempts to escape from her struggles at home in Bangkok. In an official Q&A after the premiere, Skrillex confirmed that on a larger scale, the film acts as a metaphor for each individual’s search for freedom. “No matter where you are, you can’t escape yourself until you face yourself,” he explained. Hype surrounding the film has been monumental; over 3000 people turned up for the premiere, but the theatre only had a capacity of 1600. There are also reports that Kanye West was in attendance.
