Lil Yachty Responds to Anderson .Paak's Warning on Twitter
“Where in the handbook of hip hop does it say you must know this list of songs to make music?”

Since the release of a controversial interview with Billboard where he admitted that he “couldn’t name five songs by Tupac and Biggie Smalls,” Lil Yachty has come under fire from various sides of the hip-hop world. Earlier today, Anderson .Paak decided to jump into the fray, taking to Twitter to indirectly tell Yachty not “to be cocky in the fact that you don’t know anything about hip hop history” and reminding him that “real artists are students of the game first.”
While .Paak didn’t explicitly name and shame Yachty, the Atlanta rapper has fired back in a string of tweets. “I think it’s funny how people feel like you HAVE to like something just because everybody else does,” Yachty wrote. “Where in the handbook of hip hop does it say you must know this list of songs to make music?” See his response below.
