'Overwatch' Releases an Animated Short for Popular Hero D.Va

Since the release of Overwatch two years ago, the cute and deadly hero, D.Va has undeniably served as a fan favorite, winning the hearts of players worldwide with her charming voice lines. Appeasing her loyal fanbase, Blizzard Entertainment recently released a long-awaited animated short for the gamer turned mech pilot.

Titled “Shooting Star,” the short clip reveals a little more about the selfless personality behind Hana “D.Va” Song. The short featured above shows us that D.Va is the star of a group of mech pilots that often battles threats to Busan, South Korea. Additionally, it appears that the Korean media has created a false portrayal of her to the public, often downplaying the injuries she sustains during her battles. With her “star status,” D.Va is plagued by a burden that forces her to always perform and live up to the image created for her.
