The “What Are Those?” meme has been a running catchphrase in the social media-sphere this whole summer. In case you aren’t in on the joke, it’s a saying for when somebody makes an atrocious footwear choice and first appeared on a Vine clip here. The phrase has made it to mainstream television with the help of Harlem rapper A$AP Rocky, who used it in a new Samsung phone commercial. While deciding which phone to get, he gets distracted by the Moonman’s (the MTV Video Music Awards mascot) moon boots, which led him to ask the infamous rhetorical question. Watch the video above.
