The music festival season is officially in full swing, and with that said, it’s easy to get lost in mix if you’re releasing music as an independent act during this time of year. All things considered, we wanted to spotlight 10 of the best independent drops of the week that might be some of the most eclectic independent releases we’ve seen all summer. A nice contrast in terms of genres and styles, check out all our picks below.
Ecco2k – “Black Boy”

After touring the world with Yung Lean and Sad Boys throughout the years, Stockholm’s Drain Gang, made up of avant-garde artists Bladee, Ecco2k, Thaiboy Digital & Whitearmor, are set to release their new album D&G on August 7. This week, one of the group’s coveted members, Ecco2k, dropped an autobiographical song about coming to terms with his identity as young man raised with a Swedish mother and Nigerian father. Having already been featured on Billboard as one the “15 Dance Artists to Watch in 2017,” San Francisco producer Giraffage is continuing to showcase his unique atmospheric approach to dance music with each new release. Ugly God – The Booty Tape (Album)

Internet sensation/rapper Ugly God finally dropped his highly-anticipated debut album, The Booty Tape this week. The project was initially set to feature appearances from XXXTENTACION and Ski Mask The Slump God but due to a distribution conflict with his company, the young Houston rapper had to remove nearly all the major rapper appearances. Smokepurpp & Juicy J – “Streets Love Me”
