Wiz Khalifa Is Suing His Former Manager & Rostrum Records for $1 Million

It’s over an all-inclusive 360-deal the Taylor Gang honcho signed when he was just 16.

Wiz Khalifa has taken legal action against his former manager Benjy Gringberg and Rostrum Records in the hope of being released from an all-inclusive 360-deal he signed to when he was 16. Wiz dropped Gringberg back in 2014, and now he’s aiming to terminate the binding 2004 agreement under California Labor Code’s seven-year rule, which allows artists to void the terms of a contract seven years after the ink is on the paper. Khalifa is claiming that both parties acted as “faithless fiduciaries in direct contravention of their obligations to him” and that he was “induced” to enter the 360 deal. He’s also seeking compensation for over 1 million dollars in damages. His attorney Alex Weingarten released a brief statement regarding the lawsuit:

“An artist’s most trusted advisor is his or her personal manager. Generally, nothing good comes out when the manager decides to go into business against his artist. Unfortunately, that is the case here.”

Gringberg has also released a short statement, revealing that he was “very disappointed and surprised by today’s news. To witness an artist turn on you after supporting them for a number of years is very disheartening. This is an egregious lawsuit filled with inaccuracies, yet unfortunately people sometimes resort to these practices as a way of conducting business.”
