The world lost a real one. Whether you knew him as Bandana P, Banana Clip P or simply as one-half of the Infamous Mobb Deep, Prodigy is perhaps best-known for his grisly wordplay and imagery. A true New York legend, P even posed for his Supreme photo tee against a rickety airbrushed backdrop of the city. And in many ways, that shoot sums up P’s career: he was a product of his environment, capable of crafting vivid, touching art out of even the most hard-to-look-at details. When P rapped that he would “rock you in your face, stab your brain with your nose bone” on “Shook Ones, Pt. II,” you felt it. And he knew it — P was an early adopter of the Internet and he took credit for setting many of the trends that have since become commonplace in hip-hop, be it Pro Tools, getting neck tattoos or simply setting up a blog.
