Jersey-bred, LA-based rapper, Skinnyfromthe9 has been creating a buzz for himself. His latest track, “Back When I Was Broke,” tackles his humble beginnings, finding him reminiscing about the hardships he faced during childhood.
“This song is motivation for everybody. You can do anything you set your mind to,” explains Skinnyfromthe9 about the BL$$D-produced record. “If you can dream it you can do it. I’ve been through it all in my childhood. My life gradually got better starting in middle school. Before that I was broke, homeless, poor, you name it. Once I started getting fame and money, anyone whoever laughed at me or doubted me, wanted to be my friend. I told them what was gonna happen and it’s happening. I freestyled this song and it was made an hour.”
