Philips Tests LiFi Technology in French Real Estate Office
Broadband internet through light waves.
In a move that could help revolutionize the way we work, watch television, listen to music and much more, Philips recently announced that it is currently testing its LiFi (Light Fidelity) technology in a French-based real estate investment firm. LiFi provides broadband internet using LEDs to transmit a high-speed connection through light waves. While the tech develops, users will be required to plug a USB dongle into their computers, which will then use an infrared link to access the connection.
If all goes according to plan, the benefits of using LiFi are vast. For instance, the technology is expected to flourish where WiFi radio frequencies would otherwise interfere with equipment or fail to reach altogether, such as hospitals or spaces sitting deep underground. Be sure to check back for updates on Philips’s emerging LiFi technology.
