Out of all the superstar-rappers currently running the game, Drake has run into the most controversies concerning his actual songwriting. However, at least one high-profile producer stands by the OVO artist. As revealed in a new podcast from Motel City, one of Drake’s closest collaborators is standing by his friend and partner. Explaining that Drake doesn’t employ ghostwriters and praising his work ethic, Boi-1da calls the Canadian rapper “one of the greatest writers ever.” “I’ve literally seen this guy write a song like he’s writing an essay,” Boi-1da says. “Anybody trying to discredit him from being a songwriter, being a lyricist, is bullsh*t … if you’re trying to discredit Drake from being a songwriter, you’re an idiot. I’ve literally seen that guy spend months on a song, like on one song … he’s very meticulous.”
