HBO to Release Documentary About Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine
A look into the longtime partnership of two of music’s legends.
According to Variety, HBO will be debuting a new documentary called The Defiant Ones in 2017. It is a four-part series that will trace the lives and partnership of Dr. Dre and Interscope Records co-founder Jimmy Iovine. According to HBO’s President of Programming Casey Bloys, “The Defiant Ones has everything you expect in a great story — drama and humor, tragedy and triumph. Allen Hughes takes you on a journey through some of the most important flash points of popular culture, and I’m delighted that we can bring this unforgettable saga to our viewers.”
The documentary will include extensive interviews with both Dre and Iovine, in addition to interviews with Bono, Eminem, Nas, Ice Cube and more. It will also feature exclusive, never-before-seen footage of recording sessions with Eazy-E, Stevie Nicks, N.W.A., U2 and more. Stay tuned for a release date and more information.
