Lara Croft Must Stop Global Genocide in New 'Tomb Raider' Preview
A Lara Croft far different than her predecessors.
The Tomb Raider film franchise follows up an initial trailer with another glimmer of the reboot featuring Alicia Vikander as Lara Croft.
The infamous license garnered a great deal of success in the ’90s for its video game series; however, it became the centerpiece of controversy for its blatant use of sex. The same appeal to the body would find its way into the movies of the same name starring Angelina Jolie as the protagonist.
However, this new film seeks to set a different tone. One that would be similar to the wet behind the ears archetype that is featured in the lore of the recent action-adventure revivals. Vikander, in the teaser, seeks to establish a greater feminist presence, as a strong heroine explorer willing to risk it all to find her dad, save her friend’s lives, and stop global genocide with the use of her wit, strength and will.
