JAY-Z Talks Trump, Kaepernick and Saving His Marriage
“Would you rather be playing football getting your head dinged in or be an iconic figure for the rest of your life?”
JAY-Z has been busy of late and his newest appearance was on CNN’s The Van Jones Show. The artist, hot off his 4:44 grammy nomination, spoke to Van Jones about a number of issues including Donald Trump and his latest comments, Colin Kaepernick and his marriage to Beyoncé.
On Donald Trump and his recent comments about “Shithole countries”:
“Everyone feels anger, but after the anger it’s really hurtful because he’s looking down on a whole population of people and he’s so misinformed because these places have beautiful people.”
On Colin Kaepernick:
“Would you rather be playing football getting your head dinged in or would you rather be an iconic figure for the rest of your life?”
On his marriage:
“For us, we chose to fight for our love. For our family. To give our kids a different outcome. To break that cycle for black men and women.”
You can watch the interview in its entirety above. One person who wasn’t a fan of 4:44 was 50 Cent, who took to Conan on TBS to speak about why the album made him feel like he was Carlton Banks.
